SKETCHES (LIVE)

SKETCHES are a series of three short intellectually and geographically accessible movement vignettes, set to and inspired by Bachs' Violin Concerto in A Minor.   Each Vignette follows one movement of the concerto where dancers meet in an intricate, physical, whirlwind conversation exploring the polyphonic nature of Bachs work.  Working with DJ, Composer and Improviser Mariam Rezaei, a string quintet and three dance artists, SKETCHES vignettes are strung together by a physical and audible, fourth movement, created as a response to the concerto which intertwines between, and links each movement together.  The work manifests as an impressive and quirky 40 minute production, merging abstract movement, classical strings and electronic sound.

Supported through Creative Scotland, The Work Room, Surge and Puppet Animation Scotland.

Concept/Choreography: Katie Armstrong
Composition: Mariam Rezaei
Dancers: Katie Miller, Lucy Ireland, Olivia Roach, Millie Thomas
Strings: Cairn String Quartet
